Won't the glass bend after a while, in the middle..?..(sump)...sorry...I'm a worse case scenario person by nature and I see no support cross-bar at the bottom of you'r stand...

lol, the stand has extra bars underneath for supporting the sump as well. I got the stand and DT from Dorry pets :)
The sump itself, at the bottom pic as you see if u look real close has a glass reinforcement. I added extra glue just in case. I learned a bit since my last mishap :p The sump WAS my DT till it bowed in the front.

A sump has baffles which work as hardcore bracing so you dont have to worry about a sump :)

    Hi guys... and girls :)
I need a bit of help please.
How do i REDUCE calcium levels in my tank?
Ive added Purple up and my calcium levels are high and been high for a week now.
Also my water levels drop drastically because of this. Im adding 1-2 litres a day if not more. sometimes 3.

And my other issue is the following...
My dsb bed. The sand i bought... its soft... i dont know how else to put it. Its not like the arragonite. if i push my fingers through the arragonite there is resistance... its hard. But the other sand is like butter. My hand slides through. Is this a good sign of a bad mistake?

I assume there is no live stock in your tank yet.whats your ca level at. purple up will raise your ca levels. are you sticking to the recommended dose.? your levels should drop automatically with time as your coraline and other things in your tank starts using ca. Dont stress too much about it. your tank is still in cycle mode and it wont affect anything now

Did you wash the sand before putting it into your sump?

I use playsand in my sump.

Just give it a bit of time. I think at the moment there is just some air particles stuck inbetween but it will get compact in time. alot of peoplke use playsand so dont stress. it will work. Ill just leave the tank with lights off to cycle. Cycle is crap but is worth it. It can make or break a setup. Is your tank still cloudy or has it settled? Youre off to a good start.dont stress:thumbup:

Thanks, i just thought maybe I bought toxic sand or something, hehe. I have attached another two pics. As you can see, its not cloudy any more. It was cloudy for a day MAYBE 2 but all looks great now.

You're halfway there. Now its the cycle. Be patient. Use this time to do a lot of research and plan on what you want to stock, what type of corals, fish etc. You can get do your scaping exactly like you want it before you add corals etc when it makes it difficult. Play around a bit and before you know it cycle would be over.have fun. You're off to a good start.
