Night anemone!! That's the name I was thinking of. Another member here had one and if memory serves me correct, they pack quite a punch!

if its a night anemone, please note you have a dangerous animal there, especially at night.
IIRC it causes kidney failure and death

Snoek did some homework and positively identified it as a Night Anemone. I carefully removed it from my tank and laid it to rest. It very very toxic !! Kidney and Liver failure toxic !!

How exactly did you lay it to rest?
Very sad that you bought something without knowing what it was, only to end up killing it. Those anemones don't enter the trade very often and I would have gladly taken it off your hands and provided it with a home. @Snoek should have known better than to condemn it to death.

If you said something earlier, I would've gladly iffered it to you. Please understand that it also bithered me to dispose of it - apart from the fact that I absolutely love my reef aquarium and everything in it - I also spent money on it and carefully transported it all the way back from East London. My wife died from liver and kidney failure while giving birth to my son just 2 years ago - I cannot risk it also happening to me because I felt sorry for an anemone - I still have my kids to take care of. Yes - I shouldve learnt more about it before I bought it - yes it was a lesson learnt - we all go through this when starting out im this hobby. Even the "gurus" made mistakes and learnt from it to get to a point where they can now pass their knowledge to others. One day someone else will probably post a pic if such an anemone and I will know immediately what to tell them and probably help them find a new home for it.

Sorry if my actions offended anyone - I shared my experience so that orhers can learn from it.
