    Hello to all!

over the past few months the itch to upgrade my tank started to creep in...

i originally was going to just change the tank for a slightly larger tank that i could still use my current equipment.
as we all know costs in this business can quickly escalate!
    so a 600 x 600 x 550 cube is what i had in mind!
however as these dimensions were so close to my old setup i then figured a 700 x 700 x 550 tank would be better suited and would also allow me to run my equipment! perfect!
so the saving commenced! and shortly there after ceased as my dream size tank with all equipment needed to run it became available!
    a 1000 x 600 x 550 tank! only a few months old with dream equipment!

only issue being it was located on the boarder of Lesotho.

so i roped in a friend to drive with me early last Saturday morning.
we left JHB at a cherry 4 o'clock in the morning bound for ladybrand!

Jacques met us early in the morning outside his house and within an hour we had the tank, rock, livestock and all equipment safely packed away in my fathers Land Cruiser and Venter trailer.

a short 4 hour trip later we were back in JHB at 14:00 unpacking my new tank!

here are a couple pics of the rock in the transport containers along with the livestock is a separate container.

i spent the rest of Saturday evening cleaning and servicing all the new equipment i had acquired.
pumps were serviced, skimmers were cleaned, tanks and sumps were wiped down, reactors cleaned!
needless to say this took the rest of the evening and a good part of the night!
as you can see from the pictures attached my living room had been turned into a "mess" as my other half put it!

i suppose i should tell you more about my new setup!

    its a 1000 x 600 x 550 high black silicone tank.
    skinny overflow
with two returns on on either side of the overflow

the sump is a rather unusual design, it has a auto top up compartment, otherwise the rest of it is all one compartment bar one pane of glass that separates the return from the rest of the setup.

the return pump is a reef octopus Diablo DC - 3500
it has 6 speed settings and runs incredibly silently!!

skimmer is a H&H V2013 with a internal waveline DC pump
the pump again has 6 speed settings and makes use of control that is exactly the same as the reef octopus diablo.

i am running a two reactors in this setup.

a two little fishies reactor with purigen in it (i put it in a stocking, shove it into the reactor and finish it off with some filter floss) the pump i use is a small aqua one pump.

and a Ototto fluidized reactor in which i run bio-pellets

the heater is a 300W eheim jager

the lighting is a rather special unit! a maxspect razor!
and man is this unit cool! gives off an absolutely stunning light!!

it must be said that during the time i was cleaning all the equipment, i was acclimatizing the corals and placing them as best i could into my nano to where they would say for an entire night before i drained and moved the nano out in the morning.
