Can you confirm a couple of things.
How old is the unit?
How long was the upgrade done on the pump?
Why was the upgrade done on the pump?
Are the parts easily accessible for the pump and the unit?

Skimmer is about 3 years old. The failure of the pump happened after about a year due to the worldwide skimmer impellor fault. A new pump was supplied under warranty as well as the latest impellor which to date has no problems associated with its use.
As for parts exotic aquariums is the local south African agent and they keep spares.

Personally I've taken on a sm302 in the same range and am fitting bubble mags sp4000 pumps to it.

So although the pump on the unit is basically brand new retrofitting another pump is always an option.

The skimmer bodies are rock solid. Hence me going with them again for my personal system
