    Hi
I am selling Buddy, a little pom pom crab in my sump, my lionfish would eat him otherwise. Hes still very small and needs some anemones.

shame that fella realy is tiny. Cant you keep him in the sump a while, seems like he has a good sand bed to forage through and if you gave him a small rock or two he would probably do well in there untill he's had a chance to molt and grow a bit?

    such awesum crabs these:)

not realy a filter feeder as such. The nennies on his claws (which yours has lost) will filter feed and they benifit from the crab moving around, but the crab itself is mainly a detrivor, picking up detritus from rocks and sand beds. He realy will need a little bit of rock work so he can hide away a bit, especially one that small.

Are they born with the nennies or do they find them? how can he have lost them if he never had any?

from my limited knowledge on the nennies that have, they find them off a reef and keep them most of their life. if they loose a nennie they may try split the other nennie and have two identicle clowns. the nennies are there primarily for defence and are said to be quite powerful stingers.

i am not sure how they get new ones though....i half recall a distant memory that they can substitute nennies with zoas at a push. but i am realy not sure of that!

id suggest looking up wet web media and doinga search on pom pom crabs, youll get far better info that i have:p
