hey Quntin - are you stripping them now?

With regards to the 3 x MeanWell ELN-60-48P High power LED driver (Runs 8 - 14 LEDs) @ R550 each...are these quoted on running cree or bridgelux chips?

Yea man, I'm stripping the units down as I don't need them any more after I got a really good price on the Vertex Illumina unit from @Submariner.

The MeanWell drivers are the best in the market when it comes to running LEDs.
Vertex, Radion, ATI and all the other brands use them to run the CREE XP-E leds.
So yes, these units will run both Bridgelux and Cree or any other other high power brand of LED.

Just remember they are PWM Drivers and will need a PWM input like Reef Angel, Arduino, Profilux or something like that.

Can also sell a complete unit that I showed you last time for R2250.
    That includes:
    1x Heatsink.
    2x Meanwell drivers.
    2x Arctic Fans
    18x 10000k - 20000k LEDS
    18x Royal Blue LEDS

All you need on them is the pwm controller.

    Hey @Quintin,

I might be interested in one of these complete units...Avi has been going on about them all week...lol

Looking to replace the Beamswork LED and the 2x T5s im currently running over my tank...these seem like they might to the Job. My tank is approx 60x45x60...so one of these units should give me plenty light...

Only question is the PWM controller...would I be able to run the LED's without this at all?

    Hey man.
The Drivers do not run without a pwm converter, I have tried.
They do need a signal so send out a pulse.
On a tank that size with the units I have build you gonna run these at no more than about 15 or 20% max.

You can get a controller from Typhon LED Controller Kit by BoostLEDâ„¢.
Think they go for about $49 each plus shipping.

    Eish...Not what I wanted to hear :(
Can just see the budget getting broken! lol

Gonna give this some thought...as these units are a steal ;)
How easy/difficult is it to connect the Typhon LED Controller? Ever used one?

    Very easy.
I have one that use for testing and the light units are already rigged up to accept the signals sent via the unit.

Wires on the lights are also split into two channels white and blue for the Typhon controller so you can control each colour and intensity to your liking. ;)

Plugs directly into the unit without any modification.

R650 and you can have that as well or cheaper if you get from the web site....:whistling:

Did a demo for @Clownfish9906 when he was there.
    Easy to control
    sunrise / sunset
    light intensity
    colour channels.

All rigged up and ready to go but if I can't sell it as a unit then flogging for parts is just as good.

I wasn't actually planning on selling the units but OK.
As a guess I would say you would be looking at R6,6 including the Typhon controller as is with a hanging kit.

If I had to finish them off to look pretty with some black acrylic and build the controller into the main unit the most likely something like R7,5K if I was to take a guess.

But dude honestly 3 units could very well fry your tank if you run these guys at close to 100%.

Some pics, I'm sure you have seen before....

One unit with the fans on...

    The three units.

Only Blue lights running at 100% (and this is only one unit).

Now both blue and white... (and this is only one unit).

The business end of the unit shining on the ceiling.....

    My new tank is 1500mm x 1000mm wide x 600mm high...
How many units do you think will do the job on a sps dominated tank?

Well when I built these guys I thought it should be fine for a 1200x1000x700 tank.
But looking at the Vertex, Radion and the other units these guys have way, more leds.

They have lenses though so the light is very focused but you can remove them very easily for a better spread.

I would guess something like two would be sufficient?

Can I run 2 led units on one tank and the other on second tank with just one controller. If so I might take the whole package. I'm really interisted in them and can pay a deposit for it

    Ok...Suhayl
You can have dibs on all three.
Ive got natural sunlight and a fauna marin starfire unit.so the leds would have been too much i think for my new tank. If you dont take them then i.might take them and keep them aside.
