It's taken many years of hard work, but Farther Christmas has FINALLY brought me my first white lens - a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS  :yeahdude: :slayer: I suppose that I can't blame him for only delivering it on the 5th of January - that lens is BIG and HEAVY

Now all I need to do is to learn how to take decent photos

Oh ja, and another thing - DON'T expect any marine photos until I've cleaned my tank... and THAT's only going to happen AFTER my arm becomes so tired that I can't hold this lens any longer

Cough Cough, the reason I said I keep on missing out when I looked at the Classifieds is what I actually meant was: I keep on loosing out on the good deals, eg, they are going for about R8000 - R8500. That is the price range I was looking at, meaning, I will get it very soon:razz:.

Congrats Hennie, it is really an awesome lens and I did my homework thoroughly wrt this lens. Definitely going to be one of your favorites:thumbup:

Nice to see the lens mount on it. And wear a bloody camera strap around your neck. It works for the weight:lol:

OK, the first photos (both hand held, with IS "on")...

Only subject clean enough to be photographed is the cat :whistling:

    Seriously reduced image:

    ... and a 100% crop:

    EXIF: Focal length - 200mm, ISO - 200, Shutter - 1/60th @ f/5.6, Flash

    Here's another: seriously reduced:

    ... and the 100% crop:

    EXIF: Focal length - 185mm, ISO - 200, Shutter - 1/60th @ f/5.6, Flash

Man, this lens is SHARP! The crops even look sharp at 200% - much better than my old Canon 28 - 135mm f/3.5-5.6.

Very nice Hennie. My brothers got the same set up except in 400mm

This is the camera we took on our surfing trip to Indo. Loved taking pics with it, felt like an automatic rifle when you held your finger on the button for a second or two.
