    Hi Guys,

I feel like I hit the Lotto!!

    I currently have a Boyu TL 550 130L tank
My beautifull wife has decided for christmas to get me a 450L tank with sub

You might have seen it (its at the enterance of the salt water section in Exotc pets and aq... in boxburg)

It has been running there for about 8 months with a couple of fish and soft corals,

it has a over flow system.

As I have no experience in these matters and size tanks i am slightly overwhelmed

The guys are delivering this to my house on thursday - I found this out last weekend!!

I need to move my stock (2 clowns 1 royal grama and 15KG LR)

Should I wait a week or two ? as they are going to be transporting the water as well as there LR. that has been in the system for months.

Also I have a fair amount of aptasia in my tank and dont really want to use move it accross unless in that size tank i can get a proper clean up crew

On that note : with the size tank i am getting what should i get and how many should i get?? - i currently have 5 red legged crabs, a turbo snail and a cleaner shrimp

I am concerned now as i dont want to mess this big responsibility and honour up

    Thank you in advance

    G

Congrats on the new bigger system.

    1) Definitely dont move the aptasia rock across.
Rather take it out your system, scrub it down and let it dry out.
Then use it as base rock on the new system - sounds like the new set up already has live rock and is seeded.

    2) I'd let the new system settle for a week or two before moving your fish into it. Monitor it for an ammonia spike, if nothing happens after a few days it should be fine.

I agree with @Singularity about the sump. I bought a setup with that type of sump and apart from it not doing what its supposed to for a reef setup, its very frustrating because there's no space for anything useful.

    elaborate...

There are some fish and nudis which feed on these, but mostly success rates are questionable. I specifically grew aiptasia for my copperband butterfly, but apparently i was lucky....

I just want to get rid of aptasia - my question is - should u put my existing LR with aptasia plus the aptasia thats existing in the new tank , and then just buy a copperband and pepperment shrimp - how many can i have in a 450l tank ?

Bud have a chat to @Steven. I am sure he will make a plan for you. It is not wise to put anything that has aiptaiser on it in your tank. Later on when iIt s mature you will regret if you do.

    Hey,

So my tank gets delivered today - this is what i know ....

It has an oversize protein skimmer and the sump has space to either have a refugium or a sand bed filter

    What should I do ?

It doesnt have a UV filter

what do you think is most important ?

    Thanks

Have both, what you can do is make a dsb and allow 15cm of water above it where you can pu chaeto and other macros you would like.

I don't like UV filters as with all the "bad" bacteria and organisms it kills it kills all the good ones. It also limits the food for organisms that benefit from organisms in the water like fanworms and corals.

When i acclimated it i left the lights off for almost 13hrs as i did not want to stress it
