fresh water lobster

    hi i have just got two fresh water lobsters,can anyone advise what the eat and when they shed their carapace do they hide or why would they be?

    For freshwater, I suggest you visit our freshwater sister-site
    www.tropicalaquarium.co.za

    That is a site dedicated to freshwater critters. I am sure they would be able to assist you much better than our mariners:)

    Not with any freshwater invertebrates, which are illegal...

    i have one that is hiding cause its just shelled, then my other baby is crawling around ... the place i bought them from said they were bottom feeders and will eat excess off the bottom of the tank , is this true or what do they eat .. cant log on to other forum

    you can feed them those algae waffer pellet things that sink to the bottom. They will pretty much eat anything. Just bare in mind that they get aggro and the biggest male will kill the others so you could just break off one pincer (I dont think its particularly cruel as they often loose them when they molt).

    They will attack fish when they sleep and are best kelt alone or with aggressive fish that are not too big to eat them

    I would also like to point out it is a R100 000 fine and/or 10 years in jail....
