Whew. I'm now totally exhausted - spent most of the afternoon completing the fragging of this guy...

This coral has just grown too large for my tank, blocking off nearly all the water flow on the right hand side of the tank and over-shadowing everything below it - it just HAD to be fragged, even though I feel quite sad about it.

I now have about 200 frags ranging between 2 heads and about 20 heads, occupying my 1m x 0.5m x 0.45m Q-tank AND half of my sump. If anyone would like to have frags (free), just give me a shout - only condition is that you must collect in Bloemfontein on weekends.

I did promise Sean Koekemoer a large frag, and will try to bring it to him this December holiday - Empangeni is not that far away from Richards Bay (I think...), so if you still want one I will throw another piece into the bucket :)

    Hi Mek,

This is the first photo I have of it (that I could find), taken 29 December 2002 (although I recall that it was about half this size when I first got it, somewhere in mid 2001)

Yup, that's it in the first post...

Just to put it's size into perspective - the tank is 700mm wide...

I have lots of LPS corals, and they don't appreciate the kind of jet turbine streams you SPS guys maintain... So I guess it can be classified as "Quite light" - my return is split into about 8 outlets, so each one discharges only a few hundred liters per hour. apart from that, I only had two Tunzes in the tank for most of the time - one packed up recently, so I had to replace it with a Seio - talk about down-grading :whistling:

What I DO have is good chaotic water movement, with lots of swirls and eddies - makes all the difference

    Hi Hennie,

I would love a frag ir two..... I am based in JHB so can not collect, however i am busy getting a quote from DHL express , who will pick up from your house and deliver to my door on the same day.... Would you be open to doing that?

If Hennie is ok with that then the bigger the shipment the less it will cost individuals... so people in JHB who are keen for frags, let me know and we can see if we can make a plan!!!!
