salinity on the low side? how low?

Also, is that liverock in the low salinity? Did you drop your display tank salinity for whitespot? From some of your pictures it does look like a fish only system.

    Hi Riaan
So long looonnng story, but yes its a fish only system, close on 1800liters and it holding at 1.009. I did the whole bucket system but in tanks, then let the main system stand fallow. However there was some contamination when I put them back (I think it was the catching net as it was used prior in a contaminated unit) so I am doing the main tank. Sick of staring at an empty tank for months on end. Far less stress on the fish, they seem to love the low salt. I will continue this for a total of three months. The slight white spot has vanished and my water seems stable.
I will introduce some noonoos for the live rock as I bring the salt back up again. However the foxface and purple tang are new fish. I introduced about 4 fish when i lowered the salt so they all get the benefits. The purple tang is full of the joys of spring but has the marks, and the foxface I have a feeling will die. He went off his food this morning and is swollen. I seem to have a fair amount of success for keeping bacterial issues at bay using methane blue in the low salt conditions. Its the affordable treatment in a large tank as all the other meds cost too much when treating a large volume.. I do have a bunch of other tanks for treatment if I need to catch the dudes, however they love the main tank so from a stress point of view I would like to keep them there when possible.

So there is the story, otherwise they seem happy.
