    Hi guys,

I received two used SunSun JVP-102 5000lph flow pumps as a gift.

Both of them work well, except the one doesn't start properly after a power cut. It just sits there. If I take it out and turn the impellor once through one "notch" (if you know what I mean) , it then starts. It's almost as if it stops in the wrong position and the induction from the motor isn't strong enough to make it start up.

I have cleaned both of them very very thoroughly, but the problem remains. Any advice?

    Thanks!

I find this often happens with sunsun pumps.

I got one SunSun doing the same, Just touching and moving the impeller and it goes. After whacking you slightly on the finger. Think its age related.

True, I also found that sometimes they also reverse flow direction - suck instead of blow.

I ended up buying the double-headed Sun Sun pumps and have not had any issues with them.

I have the same problem with one of my seio's. I have taken out the impellor and noticed some wear on one side of and I am assuming that that is the reason why. Then again, it may be algae as I have not cleaned the pump in a while.

Well, the one works lekker and that's churning up my tank as we speak. The amount of stuff it whips into suspension is good to behold. I'm very grateful for the gift, even if it was a hand-me-down. Hell. My entire system is a hand-me-down :)

Well - it could have been a better hand-me-down if it was a FREE hand-me-down :D

just buy them in 6 or 10 packs, like cheap globes and replace when troublesome ;-)

Ok that added no value to this thread, my sunsun salt mix pump has no issues... suck or blow it mixes the salt :)

I had the same problem with my circulation pump (it was only 3 months old). The impeller had a slight deformity which seemed to catch. I replaced it with an Eheim as I was going on holiday and needed to relax without worrying about it not starting again after power outages.
