A Beautiful place!
Not flame scallops, they are the most difficult bivalves to keep alive in an aquarium for longer than a year. Bottled supplements will not feed this animal fully and they usually starve. A unhealthy specimen will have a wide open gaping mouth. They are filter feeders and need a lot of very fine phytoplankton to thrive. There natural habitat is usually in caves and crevices with good flow to bring them food.

i am surprised them that LFS will stock them,

if one constantly dropped roti's, artemia and plankton in the tank, would they survive?

Certain mussels would survive, but oysters don't do well in reef tanks.

The scallops are cool, especially their electrical charges they display at night, but I haven't come across a tank that can keep them alive.
