    Hi guys

sadly, our recent addition died thru the night and we have no clue why.

perhaps some of you may have an answer for us.

    perhaps flames can be tricky.

the flame was imported 2 weeks ago and stayed at the lfs for the duration, we brought it home yesterday afternoon. it looked healthy and was swimming fine.

acclimated for 1.5 hours using the drip method at about 1 -2 drops /second cause we also got a starfish.

put the flame in the qt tank (10l), with about 1ml seachem stress guard - whether this works or not i dont really know, but our other fish were fine with it. a heater at 26 degrees and an air stone. oh and pvc pipe. - same procedure for all the fish we've bucketed.

covered most of the tank with a towel as not to stress it out from peripheral movement, fed a little bit and added a small amount of seeweed on a clip. it was swimming fine last night.

this morning, we check and it has died for some odd reason.

we checked water params just in case something was wrong, but they all came out fine. FYI- we used our dt water as the first water.
    sal: 1.026
    ammonia: 0
    nitrates: 2
    nitrites: 0.00
    ph: 8.4
    temp: 26 degrees

for all intents and purposes, this fish should've been fine.

does any one have an idea what could've caused his death?

    thanks guys.

Sorry to hear, if you still have the fish check the gills, also soak in ro and see if any flukes etc fall off

oh damn, we've already disposed of it, but there was a darker area around the cheek/gill area. not sure if this is a just a symptom of death. :m79:

next time, what do you suggest for preventative methods in case another one might have flukes?

we do the bucket method (3 days change) for white spot, but we don't really accommodate for anything else.

    thanks dallasg

Was the fish's colour washed out before it died?
