    Hi everyone

I am as you all know new to thew marine thing. Im busy getting all the hardware ready for my setup and would like to know where and what fish shops to visit to get the best deals on hardware and best livestock in Cape town. I have absolutely no idea where to start looking. Im going to town tomorrow so i will make some time to go check them out and maybe get some bits and bobs.

(PM me if we cant use names on the forum, i was not sure)

    Regards Bossi

    Thanks guys

I have been to NAAC(awesome place) and pet aqauria.

I wanna go check out some of the other CBD shops aswell. Any suggestions? SAMS will be a little out of the way for tomorrow's mission. I will be going to CBD and table then table view.

    Regards Bossi

Johan - I sent you a PM. Unfortunately is there not many other Cape Town sponsors here in/close to Table View.

There's Aquality (he used to be a sponsor - not sure if he still is) - he has a "lab area" in Montague Gardens.....

From what I have heard I believe SAMS is the best for Hardware with regards to their pricing and variety of stuff, just don't let them push you into buying stuff you don't need, go in there knowing what you want and walk out with what you want, no extra's.:)

    fish shops in cpt

I would try NAAC in somerset west, very close to you, for something truly impressive on the live stock front , Elite in Fishoek main road but take Boyes drive. I went there over the weekend with the family and have not seen such a collection since the aquarium in town. Exotic in Ottery also has a good selection. Sams prices on hardware are good but he will try and sell you the whole store.

Leave your credit card at home.

That is the best advice i can give you.
Check out the stuff, get prices, compare shops, go back home, google it, and ask for opinions here on MASA if needed.

Only when you know, exactly what piece of hardware you want, then go back and buy it. This method will safe you a lot of money. Especially it will stop impulse buying.

Johan , Riaan actually gave you good advice...maybe just a bit in reverse (sorry Riaan),

Firstly decide where you would like to end with the marine experience (this is not just a hobby), THEN research, THEN buy.

Also keep in mind that a LFS shouldnt be just a shop where you go for price , variety or because the guy is nice. He / she should become your "partner" in the whole yourney. That is why the more info you have the better

LOL, I know another shop here in Somerset in which the guys also wanna sell me the shop. io think they are related to SAms.

Point taken and that's why tomorrow ill take the drive and check only!!! I cant afford to spend on stuff I don't really need. This marine thing is gonna set me back much more than i initially thought, but its gonna be worthwhile and i dreamt about the day I have a marine tank since I can remember.

Thanks for all the names guys!
