I bought some fresh fish roe from a fish shop and put a little in the display!
It made my skimmer go mad - The fish enjoyed it and so did the coral.
I was thinking of adding fish roe to my homemade mix but if its gonna affect the skimmer like this then i would have to switch the skimmer off and set it again after each feed. Will the roe be better if its frozen in the marine mix?

Roe is an excellent Coral food, just watch out- very high in nutrients. I feed roe to my Corals

you may find that mixing it in with your mix may mean that the individual dose of roe is much less than feeding roe only thus more is eaten and the effect on the skimmer is not as marked !!

I use Seafood mix from Pick n Pay - It has Calamari - prawns - mussel - crabstick,
I put some norri & hake aswell - Garlic that i have blended beforehand and Lemon juice for vitamin C - I put all these ingredients in a blender and add some R.O Water and blend up for a few minutes. I pour these into ice cube trays and freeze. I defrost 2 cubes a day and add lipovit and immunvit from tropic marine and feed with a turkey baster;)

I will not add too much roe into my next mixture and will only feed when i have time to switch the skimmer off for a few hours.

You can get it at any Fishmonger or Seafood Shop - Jus cut the roe sack open and feed the fish and coral the eggs.

the reason the skimmer goes crazy is due to the binding fats/oils in the roe.

I emptied a whole bottle of crushed garlic today making about 2 x 5 litre ice cream containers of "blended" food - My poor skimmer had to be emptied 5 times so far from lunch time .... Never again ..... Next time not so much garlic - From the cup I'm only taking out light coloured sea water "ponging" of garlic
