Out of interest what would you guys say brings that "next step" to a tank?
Obviously fish and coral have their own unique add-on to any tank, but what would you say adds that wow factor and makes a great tank a true master piece?

For me my wow factor when I see a tank is the colours! I just want as many colours as possible. I love it.

Thats the thing, do you add colour with fish or coral? Or rather movable or non-movable colour?

I am trying with both. Although slowly at this stage and my tank is tiny. But I would love different colours with both types if possible, prefer movable, I can stare in there forever

Haha know the everlasting stage all too well. Its like the display tank at my lfs, don't know how he does it but it looks almost perfect. On photos it doesn't look all that good but in person............... Mind you he doesn't have all of these fancy colours.

I'd say maturity, hard to describe but when a tank has grown out corals and happy fish due to a long term stable tank, that's beautiful to me. That's the wow factor for me.

when the corals are not frags anymore. But colonies in their own right.

    Also
When there are "things" in the sand. Worms and their sweeper tentacles. Pods running around, Micro bristle stars fingers "in the air" grabbing food.

@CameL - I didn't even think about that, lol I always had it as stuff as much colour in there as possible.

@RIAAN - Interesting that you point that out, so many of us don't even notice them and when we do we just don't care.

In my personal opinion. Yes i do like to view a nice healthy reef tank with big corals and healthy fish.

However, scaping and colour are the WOW factor to me. Both interesting fish and bright colour corals add to a complete tank..

Sterlig Fish World. Not saying this because the owner is a good friend of mine but I am still looking for someone to beat his prices on fish and coral.
