Hi guys. As I am still pretty new at this I would like to know what you guys would suggest I should get first (I am planning on a mixed reef in future). My choices are 1. Regal angel 2. Bicolor angel 3.Koran angel 4. Regal tang 5. Fox face 6. Pajama cardinal 7. Brown sailfin tang 8. Dorry fish( don't know how they look but will find out tomorrow) 9. Decor fish (also don't know what they look like). My system is +/- 1200L and I have 1 lawnmower blennie and sand shifting star fish and couple of snails, no corals except aiptasia.

I would go for the sailfin tang above the regal. The regal is more prone for whitespot and being a newbie the sailfin is more robust.

if i may add some info
if you want a mixed reef, then 2 species of fish are needed in my experience, wrasses and tangs, both are hardy and serve a great purpose.
Tangs keep algae off corals, rocks etc, natural herbivores are key to success, also add turbo and nassurius snails when the tank gets more stocked. wrasses keep pests of corals etc, flat worm, pyramid snails etc.
i suggest adding a pair of yellow wrasses or green and a bristletooth tang, the best choices, sailfins get big quick and become aggressive at times, mine is over 15cm in a year. can also add a foxface, get a small one and feed well, go with the one spot foxface

then look at adding a 6 line wrasse and some colourful fairy wrasses and then progress to cardinals, chromis and regal tang(dorry fish)
stay away from choices 1, 2, 3 angels are way to fussy for new tanks,

any more Q's? drop me a line

Thanks Dallas and Riaan. I will take this into consideration so no angels at all (pity they are quite beautiful) will definitely take fox face and maybe the sailfin tang. I think I will make a turn at dorry's and maybe get something there before I come back home. Riaan will you be at home tomorrow so that I drop off your boxes or maybe at a later date?

you can get angels after a few months once everything has settled, they will eat more and filtration will take strain, best to add them after a few months etc

you can look at 1 or 2 of the dwarf angels, coral beauty and/or lemarcks are reef safe 100%

I also think they are quite beautiful. Good looking tank and some of my choices are in there too, so they can live together.
