    'Allo

Tank is now 5 weeks old ,cycle complete, only NO3 still reading but down to 10mg/L...My question is when should I do my first water change? Must there still be NO3 present for the DSB to start functioning?Only LR in tank plus a few snails. Also there seems to be quiet a bit of gunk on the substrate from the LR that was curing, must I leave it or siphon it up??:(

total volume 1000 L and flow 25x...CUC is only 4 snails as yet.Sorry no pics but Ive been using a spare powerhead to lift the gunk into the water coloumn to get filtered out by the filter sock and skimmer.
