Hello Everyone

This is my setup and very first aquarium.

Decided to go Marine as I like challenges.

Currently no lifestock, but would like to start off with some hermit crabs and later on start with one fish take it from there.

Aquarium is 60x30x30cm.

Thanks Everyone

Feeling right at home already :)

This is what makes our lives easier and sometimes difficult as well. Internet you can find almost all your answers and a lot of different opinions and from that opinions you can try out things and see what works out for you.

I saw there are quite a few Riaan`s here, luckily we do not stand all together somewhere having a braai or drink or it might be strange when you speak to a bunch of Riaan`s and nobody can understand which one you are having a braai :)

Enjoy your Friday and rest of the weekend :)

I`ll be in touch

Upgrade time:

1. Added some new live rock. Had to take out rock with no growth, too little space. About 7.5kg of rock.
2. Also had a pump upgrade.
3. Added some filter sand.

Now the cycle should really begin to run nicely. :)

Howdy RiaanDP. Well, its a neat little tank. the scaping is awesome, less is more..... The gogga is gonna bite sooner than you expect. If i knew back then what i know now i wouldve started with a 300L with 100L sump. Its nifty and awesome, what i do recommend is if you find a special of some sort on secondhand or new equipment then buy it, so when you do decide on upgrading it wont cost you an arm and a leg.

Im gonna teach my kids all about reef keeping that way they wont have any money left for drugs or alcohol.

@ShLiMi333 +1 Bud, Couldn't agree with you more.
My daughter has the marine setup, not me. And it's taught her to look at the sea (and nature) in a totally different way. She thinks sustainability these days, which is a knock-on from sustaining the critters in her tank. We only 'borrow' this planet from our kids...

True true, went to watch finding dory with the wife. (kid is to young, only 3yrs old) and since owning a reef tank i noticed a ton of stuff on the movie i wish i could have in my tank and the detailing is bloody awesome. In the movie they transported a crate full of regal tangs and it was sooooooooooo pretty, i want a tank full of them lol.

Yeah, it all started when friends of mine got their tanks.

Reef and Marine and looking at the little guys they got into my heart and made a decision to get my own.

Keeps me busy and enjoying it.

I also wanted to start off with a big one, but due to renting a home it cannot work for me at this stage.

Planning on getting something way bigger, either secondhand or special one day when I have my own place.

I actually also learned a lesson to shop around for Live Rock.

The small one in this tank was more expensive than the 2x bigger rock combined.

Always shop around, that's what I learned or look out for bargains.

Hello and welcome @RiaanDP

Where are you based?
Do you have a skimmer running on this tank?

Welcome RiaanDP! What substrate are you using? Looks like the small white stones used for freshwater systems? It already looks clogged up with junk.
