My question is related to what to feed a tank, what quantities and what variety. I have a 3-month old tank and all seems to be doing well. I have been feeding the fish pellets, flakes and frozens (mostly mysis but also some other bits). I know that over-feeding can be one of the causes of high nitrates and algae booms but I was wondering if the excess food (not immediately eaten) also ends up as food (in microscopic/decayed form) for things like zoas, filter feeders, etc.

I don't feed my zoas anything and they seem ok for now but I am not sure that they will remain like that, so hence my concern.

Here is a list of what I have in my tank and what I feed them etc,

I feed flakes, pellets, frozen (alternating between consecutive days) every morning to the following:
    2 x Clowns
    2 x Banana Wrasses
    1 x Yellow Tang

I feed 1 pellet (per creature) every morning to the following:
    2 x Red Fire Shrimp
    1 x Goby/Pistol Shrimp pair

I feed 1 small piece of hake to my 2 nennies, once a week

The following creatures I do not feed at all (or they do not feed from me):
1 x Yellow-headed Goby (does not feed from me - sand sifts)
1 x Court Jester Goby (does not feed from me - eats algae and sand-sifts)
    3 x Snails
    3 x Hermit Crabs
    1 x Volcano Starfish
2 x Porcelain shrimp (make their own plan)

The following coral also do not get fed directly:
    - star polyps
    - zoas
    - torch coral
    - hammer-head coral
    - 5 x mushrooms (still small frags)

Can someone do a sanity check on this, especially the coral please

Have no idea what you are talking about ... hence this post. Please clarify what those are and how they are dosed/fed to the creatures

    feed your corals fish poo!
you can use additives but then those must be dosed lightly as they can pollute

    i use frozen fish eggs

Fish poo is auto-dosed .... hahaha

Would lobster eggs work as well .... and what sort of feeding frequency would you use for that ?

yes those should work fine... well if you feed your fish that, the corals will inadvertently get fed, can look at Marine Snow which is weekly but dont stress over it, corals are photosynthetic, well the ones you have are
