A mussel on the half-shell is nice because you can always remove the uneaten bits together with the shell.

my guy totally snobbed mussel and fish.... I thinks he is a vegetarian

Depends on how many hermits you got, On big tank, low numbers, heavy fish feeding. There is no need to target feed the hermits.

But if you got loads of hermits, they will not say no to anything, From Nori, small pieces of hake, mussel like that with or without the shell. Only problem with hake and mussel is that the skimmer overreacts.
