Feeding Anemones

Thanks a lot, I have a nennie and also wondered about some of the points that you touched in the thread!!!

Excellent information - specifically the expelling. As a newbie, I must admit that the first time my anemones did this, I was ready to arrange a funderal procession as it cost a small fortune to get them originally..

Annemone's? Here's my thinking, long tentacle species normally wonder over the whole tank and short tentacle species stay where they are placed providing they get what they want (Food & Light) as far as feeding goes, i feed small chunks of hake and whatever is captured when feeding the fish on a daily basis.

This makes me wanna post pics of my H.Malu!!!

@Anemone here is my question with regard to feeding anemones. I have never once physically fed my RBTA in the 10 months I have had it. It has grown, more healthy than the day I bought it and its colour is amazing. How is this possible since everyone says u need to feed your anemone at least once every 3-4 days?

My LFS owner says its more than likely getting food from the water column when I feed my fish and corals. Even if this is so with all the the talk about feeding anemones surely this is not enough to sustain it in theory?

Any anemone that wanders all over the tank, on a routine basis, is not having all of its needs met. The exception is newly placed anemones, looking for their spot.

It can be! In addition to what you are feeding your tank, lighting, clownfish feces, and pods are all food sources for anemones. Some clownfish will also bring food to their anemone.

This was his argument, but my clowns dont host in my anemones. :(

Is this a sticky yet?

THANKS for the info very useful. i just got my first one this weekend..Not too big, but right size for my tank. the pet shop advised feed him lance fish once a week. i see you indicate 2 - 3 times a week. i fed him one small lance fish, should i rather be feeding smaller pieces of the lance, more than once a week?

regards
shane

Anemone, how long does it take for one to be sure that a new carpet (Stichodactyla haddoni sp.) is happy in its new home?

how many days should one wait before a new carpet can be feed?

thanks

With regards to the mini carpet anemones, will feeding it a piece of hake once a week suffice? Been doing that the last while...
