    Hi Guys,

So I decided to get myself a regal angel only to realise that they are one of the most difficult species to get to eat. After reading a bit of literature on the net regarding them I realised that the ones from the Red Sea seem to do a bit better than the ones from Indonesia etc, although this has changed of late.

He seems very healthy and happy in the 4ft that he's sharing with a Blond Naso, but I am fully aware of the consequences if he doesn't feed and disease starts to settle in. I've tried multiple types of food from Ocean Nutrition including nori, Mysis, Krill and their much spoken of Angel mix, but he hasn't seem to take a likening in either:(

I've even go so far as to tie the food down to LR as some people suggest that they battle to eat from the water column as they're not used to eating like that.

I haven't tried clams, so where will I be able to get some as I'm not keen on going to a LFS and buying a priced piece just to get him to eat:p

    O ja he's a yellow belly

    Thanks

Boiled peas? What about popping down to the beach and getting some sponges? Or bloodworm

Check yuri's thread on his kingi. That would be a good idea. Try breaking pieces of hake in the water column and let them float by him. Nothing in my tank (angels included) ever refused hake. Cannibals.

Andries, try bloodworm, but for angels I have found pellets, especially the tetra bathwater pellets, I only ever buy the tetra pellets when I have a new fish,

as above! my regal goes bossies for muscle , but also for everything else. muscle will get it started im sure open half shell and allow it to sink to the bottom. it will come around and tear it off, this is how they do it in the wild. i have a grey belly (some like to call it blue..) from indo and his fine! the reason why yellows do better than the grey is collection. Kenyan shipments also have regals so its less travelling time too. good luck! this fish is a fish that needs your devotion!

here are my two angels eating muscle

clam on the half shell and seachem entice worked nicely for my regal if remember correctly...i went down to the OCEAN FRESH fish shop-so go down to any fish shop(for human consumption lol) that sells live clams which they keep aerated then open in half and pop to the bottom of your tank. any other food should be dipped in entice and use a rubber band to keep it on a small rock...remember they tend to be a bit shy at first so observe if its eating from a distance.

Tried that but he looks straight past it:whistling:

Tried to get mussel from umdloti today but it was high tide. I was being checked out by a couple of guys because I was running around the rocks in my work clothes(long sleeve etc):yeahdude:

Only a Blond Naso but he has started to eat. They swim around the tank like old mates:)

No, unfortunately I took the last one.

Great stuff. I will give it a go tomorrow:)
