First off, how can there be only 6 threads on predator tanks ;)

I know all the "regular" feeding foods for a Lionfish.

I still feel that a predator fish should feed naturally.
So, can I go and catch small little rock fish and feed them to the Lion?
Well, feed the Lion without contaminating the tank :whistling:

I would much rather take a surf and catch dinner in a rock pool!

The only advice i will give is live food is inclined to give the recipient worms. It is advised against by most experts.

Lion fish do not hunt in rock pools. So perhaps the food source is not suited for them. Also consider the impact on the rock pools you extract the food from. So shop around many pools if possible and do not move from one fished out pool to the next when the food source is no more. Keep your pools thriving and for others to enjoy. My 2C

LC , I am with NJ on this , feeding caught fish poses hosts of problems / risks worms disease etc.

Studies have actually shown that a piece of white fish presented correctly has the same "hunting response" as live food. As for "natural feeding" , if that was the requirement for keeping fish , the flake & pellet guys will be out of business !

I personally think that you NEED to train the lion to accept a wide variety of foods (frozen , pellets , flakes etc) ...or yu will never be able to get a tank sitter

Also the klipvis might just go into hiding ;)

To feed my Lion, all I do is take either a strip of chokka, or a piece of fish fillet of the right size, and then stick it on a piece of fishing line. Then I jig the piece of meat around until the Lion decides he wants to chomp it.

Also, on good days, I collect some small shrimps from the rock pools, and then freeze them, that way, when I don't have other food, I take one out, thaw it, and stick the fishing line in the tail part of the shrimp, then jig it in front of the lion and he chomps like a beast!!!
