Just realized you said the tank is in your basement. But I believe your basement is your main living area.

No, here in New York most homes have a basement and most of them are finished so you can use them as living quarters. There is a kitchen, bath, heat and everything you need. Even windows as it is not totally below ground. It is also cooler. That picture looks like the paneling is brown, but it is gray driftwood. Remember I finished it 38 years ago.
