Thats why I always buy two brands of test kits for params which i test often, like Ca and Alk! Occasionally cross reference them against one another. I use a seachem and a Salifert for alk. My salifert reads spot on against seachem's included known reference sample, so maybe i was lucky!

I also believe hobbyist test kits should not be trusted to give scientific results. Rther use them for an indication of parameters and patterns in consumption to detemine dosage of for example buffer, Mg etc.
