    Hi everyone.
I recently installed another pl bulb in my tl-450 unfortunatley the only bulb i can find at the moment is 4000k. I cant really notice a big improvement in light so my question is will the extra bulb being only 4000k be benificial to my inhabitants? I spose it is an extra 18 watts?

You have added an additional 18W to the light output which is an increase on your existing 36W PL tubes. The wattage though is meaningless as a stand alone measure.
Better way to measure this though is with the PAR ratings.

Rather see if you can get a 10k PL tube . Check Dorry Pets under sponsor forums.
Lanzo sells PL tubes. I think Sam's in Bergvliet also stocks the 18W 10k PL tubes.

Cool thanks guys. Ja ballast rated for 18watts. Ill look around for a 10000k bulb. That would be sweet.

Excuse the pics guys took them on my phone.
You can see where i took the transformer for the leds and fans out to make space for extra ballast. Also had to move one of the starters.

So i have taken the extra bulb out this morning, because its only 4000k im sure it was promoting my sudden increase in algae:whistling: i must admit though that i can notice a huge difference with the bulb out now nowhere near as bright. So gonna look for a maybe a 10000k bulb now.

cpc. Algae is caused due to nutrients present in your tank. If nutrients are not present, algae will not thrive.

The bulbs that were currently on the system, did not have the penetration availablity to cause algae to bloom. Low K rating bulbs assist in better light penetration, therefore increasing growth rate on your corals aswell as nusiance algae.
What I would do is, run Po4 remover and get those phosphates down, then put in the 4000k bulb.

Cool man. What I suggest you do is, up your flow in the tank and try and get your hands on Tunze Quickphos. Believe me, that stuff works ;)
