    Hey everyone,

Which one is better, an external skimmer or internal? If you could use either one, which works better?

i wont ever go internal again, external is going to be far easier on the maintainance side of things.

Youll change your mind if your skimmer come should ever overflow.

Thats what I am worried about. Every now and then my skimmer decides to flood the collection cup. Luckily it just goes in the sump.

If an external is setup properly then you will never look back.

what is the worst that can happen if ur internal skimmer cup overflows into ur tank water agen?then ur skimmer just skims that same crap out agen

External skimmer can flood ur house very quickly and dry out ur sump like it did mine on 2 occasions and you come home to a burnt out return pump and swimming pool for lounge area.

but yes,im still sticking to external, was told it skims a greater surface area of water(well atleast it depends how its plumbed in)

Guys all modern skimmers have a pipe in the skimmer cup so they dont have the problem of overflowing anymore.

from a cost point of view its a no brainer.

I have add plenty skimmers and have had good and bad of both internal and external
