Nice, is it going to be a display tank or a sale tank? I think the black aragonite seems to make the colours of the corals stand out a lot more. But apparently the white reflects some the light and aids in coral growth, not sure how true that is though.

@viper357 it will be a sale tank.
For some reason David doesn't want to make it a display tank.:(

lol, sadly he's gotta make money to run his business ;)

If it's a sale tank then I wouldn't worry about the doser, the corals will be in and out so quickly I doubt they will have time to settle in and absorb the good nutrients, I reckon cheap manual dosing will suffice.

I want to do the black arraganite soooo badly but. our suppliers also told me the same obout the light reflecting off the gravle. - if anyone else is doing it with black , ide love to see it and hear of long term growth...

We have the dosser working on the small 1.5m coral tank , so i wont be using a new one...

The problem with bussiness at the moment is so many people doing " private "importing " or online shops stock doesnt fly out as such - so my concept will be to hold enough stock to attract the custimer away from his P.C purchase ... if that makes any sence.

BUT - we have a new supplier with AMAZING fish and Coral selections ( very expensive) , and super rare , I want to hold a veriety and so need more space.

David, I would use white aragonite within the first meter, mixed B&W within the second meter and just black within the last meter. It should go from white into more and more black until it's just black.
So the meter in the middle should be on the one side more white, in the centre a 100% mix of B&W and on the other side more black then white.

Just my 2cents, but I think you should try it to give the customers an idea about what is possible. Also you will get some experiences about light, colouration, etc. within the different aragonite parts.

David, it is always a good thing to have plenty of livestock in stock. That requires cashflow up front and ordering new stock as soon as the new stock arrives. Nothing worse than a customer who pops in twice and you have no variety. The customer came twice and maybe never again. Any LFS should have his systems at least 50% stocked at all times. It also helps to keep the filtration going until the new shipment comes in. Which LFS is holding corals and have installed dosing pumps? I know none!
The norm is usually that the stock comes in and is sold out within days or max. a week. Only standard stuff is left or the usual gap fillers.
I know, it sounds much easier than done, but once you get that right, business will run smooth. Your prices and your quality are really good. Already reasons to drive out to Diepriver. You guys take much more of livestock (upgrading equipment, etc.) than other LFS do. You order what the customer wants if you don't have stock. Others just tell you, that they don't have it and try to sell you what's in stock.

You guys are really on the right track and I'm confident that Perky's can reach the top when it comes to marines. Whenever I can help out with my opinion or advice from the customers point of view, let me know.

The ones with the horrible pricetag will have a market as soon as I have my permits and breed them. See that you get some pictures.
When ordering clowns with a heavy pricetag, make sure that they send you pictures up front from the clowns they are going to send.

Post pictures of the ones with the heavy tag. If one wants them, cash in 50% deposit and then order. There is money to make and to loose with expensive fish as you know.

We should sit down one day and have a longer chat.

Right now, I'm still trying to figure out what causes my livestock to die. It is so weird.
