its riduculous. there are gonna be roughly 2million ppl more in sa that will be unemployed if this where to happen. this would then cause our crime rate to increase drastically.(its already bad as it is) which then infact sa will be well on its way like zimbabwe went! this countrty will jst go to the dumps! absolute madness. this will knock the businesses for a 6!

150% is what they say now.... they keep hitting us with more and more each time they announce an increase so as to desensitise us. Note that it's a 5 year plan they have and the increases will only be for 3 years? C'mon.... We're being shafted.

Eskom would like us all to believe it's ONLY 135% over the next 3 years (45% per annum) But in reality it' a bit more than that. Let say you where paying R 100.00 per month for your power, after our last hike it went up with 37%, so your are now paying R137.00. With the new increases it will work as follows:

    Year one 45% increase - R 137.00 x 1.45 = R 201.39
    Year two 45% increase - R 201.39 x 1.45 = R 292.01
    Year three 45% increase - R 292.01 x 1.45 = R 423.41

Now taking what you are paying after the 3 year price increases and the cost before the increases: R 423.41 - R 100.00 = R 323.41. That is a 323.41% increase over four years, that's if they will stop there. The CEO might need another increase by then.

And Coal prices dropped by 60% this year (Citizen newspaper)

Did we see ANY of that savings.

Also Municipalities make a profit on power obtained by Eskom then sold to customers. Are they also going to push their profit margins up? So we the poor households are nailed even more.

Also moving the "free" usage a month from 50 to 70 for low-income houses or low-usage. Ok help the poor, but who is paying for the free 20? All the other households that is who...

Just one good example to show that privatization DOES NOT work.
