Emperor Angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator) what to get, juvenile or adult?

Knut, Angels are also my favourite fish.

My angel arrived on Wednesday.

The Regal angle

Most of the angels are very colourful. I used this spreadsheet as a guideline to determine what angel to buy. It's a survey done on Reef Central to see how compatible angels were with corals.

Just one thing, use it as a guideline but remember each fish behaves different.

PS. I will go for the juvenile

That was an absolute beauty Hannesco, congrats hope it will give you lots of pleasures:thumbup:

And thank you for the list, i will study it closely :p Picking a angel is not going to be easy:( My first thoughts was to go for the emperor, but after seeing the queen and your beautifully regal its been pushed down on the list. Love your tank by the way:yeahdude:

what corals do you have
i think it is better to get the smallest adult colored emperor you can find
there diets in nature is not the same that you can give him
i think thy change better in nature than in a tank

Queen angels eat any coral a totally not reef safe
with a emperor you will get a way with most soft coral an sps corals (never keep a brain coral with any angel)
sum will go for lps but that is more of an hit and mis thing

Thanks for replying Yuri.

Is there anyone who got a queen that is more safe? Acording to the list Hannesco gave its 80% safe, and a hot candidate for nr 1 on my list

Ohh yes forgot to say.....
Its now official: I am getting a juvenile!

if you only have sps corals in your tank
how big is your tank
if it is big tank then you can put more than one angel in there
if you want a regal angel then he needs to be in there first
i will put a emperor angel in before i will put in a queen angel
Holacanthus is the most aggressive angels

My dt is 800L
I am not sure if i want more than one, an large angel takes up a lot of space and i want lots of other fish to. Thanks for the advice about the queen, but i think il stick to only one large angel.

Queen and regal are fighting for nr 1 spot on the list, just have to do the research first.

Argghh :banghead: Like this isn't hard enough like it is..
Beautifully, but .....
