They will eat your zoas, emerald craps are algalphores, they need some form of plant material to survive, they will then start to eat the next available food source where they can find algal, namely the zooanthellae in your zoas.

    Ive experienced this as well.
Whenever mine cant find enough food, he will start eating my green star polyps (which i dont really mind as they anyhow grow like weed!) ive had mine in the same tank with lots of tiny fish, sexy shrimps, pompom crabs & other small inverts & they have never touched them! They will however try to eat some polyp coral IME.

Thanks a lot Carlosdeandrade, i got a lot of zoas. You change my mind, no emerald crab for me. I don't want to put something in my tank and later remove it. Before i put something into my tanks i make 100 present sure. I don't want any regrets afterwards..

What is your reason for wanting an emerald crab if you dont have any algae?

Hi, the reason he looks quite, and if he would service only on meaty food, but i also don't want to put my other live stock at risk, i like a variety of stuff in my reef tanks. More natural look. But i guest cant really copy a hole reef.

Hi, i know thats why i ask qestions and seek answers. Nothing go in to my tank not even a fish, doing home work.where they from to make sure the food they need are the same they use to. And if not sure like thebpistol shrimp then i leave it be until i am 100 persent sure. Not even a crab, i dont sump things. The osean and marines is my live. Lol i spend more time in the osean than at home.

Thank you Johan 7927, :) i feed the crab even if i have to go to the beach every day to get some algae. Lol it will be even cheaper than nori leaves.:tt2: just joking. Still thinking about it, still not 100 present sure of emerald crab. I also thinking long term if it will work out. If they stop making nori leave then what.?:thumbup:
