    Hi all,

I've just purchased a Alk Hanna Checker on ebay - to lower the shipping costs I am going to be getting a [ame="http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Hanna-HI-713-Checker-HC-Phosphate-Photometer-HI713-/390164656372?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ad7a030f4"]Phosphate checker[/ame] and a [ame="http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hanna-HI-758-Checker-HC-Calcium-Photometer-HI758-/370520816775?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5644c2fc87"]Calcium checker[/ame] with extra reagents from the same guys. I am just waiting on whether they'll drop the shipping charges if i add the extra items.

Does anybody around DBN/PMB want to join in?

Just check the links for the costs, but the Phosphate checker works out to be R438.37 ex. shipping (this will be tiny) and extra reagents and the Calcium checker works out to be R 541.70 also ex. shipping and extra reagents.

If there's no response I'm going to get them anyway - just thought someone near me might want to join in.

    @Ridwaan, are you in DBN/PMB?

So far I've got @Monti and, pending location, Ridwaan.

I'm still waiting for a reply to my question from the guys I bought the Alk checker from about joining the rest of my order so as soon as I've heard from them I'll let you guys know how much it comes to.

    Hi @erratiC

I already have a Phosphate checker but I'd like some more packets of reagent (they come in boxes of 25) so please order me two boxes of 25. I'm in Pmb but I can arrange to fetch them from Durban. The extra reagents should add very little to the shipping costs as they are so light but I'm happy to pay a share of the costs. Thanks.

    Colin

its my first time seeing this. looks interesting and i'll be looking to buy one in the future.. unfortunately the budget for this month is very tight... how many tests can be performed with the reagent supplied and how many extra reagents does it come with.. looks like the Hanna website is down at the moment

    Hi Colin,

Not a problem, I'll add you in for 2x phosphate reagents. I'm in PMB at least once a week so I don't mind if we meet up somewhere that side when I've got the goods. I'll let you know how much it comes to when I've heard back from the seller.

As far as i can see both the Calc and Phos checkers come standard with a measly 6 reagents each where the Alk checker comes with 25. This is why I'm adding an extra pack of reagents each for both the Phos and Calc checkers.

    Hope this helps.

    Grant

I don't really want to have to worry about shipping the checkers/reagents to places outside DBN/PMB.. sorry dude. Perhaps create another thread and ask around if people want to join you.

Sorry guys, still waiting on this supplier to answer my Qs so as soon as I've heard from them I'll update this thread.

I'm wanting to order more items myself so I'm getting slightly impatient here...

I'll add you in then, @SApicoreef, haven't got any quotes as yet - managed to get hold of the supplier via Twitter so I'm expecting a response on Monday. Will then start putting a list together of who wants what.

@2balive, @Monti, @Ridwaan, @colins, @HOT SAUCE, @SApicoreef, @Midnight Reefer, I've received a response from the seller - he was very apologetic for taking so long to respond..

Long story short, he's said that if we were to send our parcels using USPS it would cost approx. $60, however, we wouldn't get a tracking number from them. This I immediately don't want, for obvious reasons. He recommended using FedEx which he then stated that it's usually 3 times as much but comes with a tracking number but I'm sure would probably be faster and more secure.

I'd like to use FedEx - I'm sure that if we get enough people to split the courier charges this won't be too bad... which is the reason why I've decided that if you're from anywhere outside DBN/PMB and you're willing to pay for your postal/courier charges from DBN to your location then you may put your orders in.

Ridwaan, Midnight Reefer, you guys still keen on joining?

Here's the price breakdown, from what I can find on ebay under the seller's items :

    Phos checker - $44.50
    Alk checker - $43.50
    Calc checker - $45.99
    Phos Reagents separate - $8.99ea (25 tests)
    Alk Reagents separate - $8.99ea (25 tests)
Calcium reagents - $19.99ea (25 tests) - the seller is going to pull these reagents out of other test kits for us.

If so, this is how I have the order thus far :

1x extra Alk reagents - Me
1x Phos checker with 2x extra reagents - Me
1x Calc checker with 2x extra reagents - Me
1x Alk checker with 1x extra reagents - Monti
1x Phos checker with 1x extra reagents - Monti
    2x Phos Reagents - colins
1x Phos Checker - Ridwaan - are you wanting reagents?
1x Alk Checker with 1x extra reagents - SApicoreef
1x Phos Checker - Midnight Reefer - are you wanting reagents?
1x Alk Checker - Midnight Reefer - are you wanting reagents?
1x PH Meter - Midnight Reefer

I'm hoping I haven't left anyone out. Please shout if I have.

Midnight Reefer, I'm not sure on what PH Meter you're wanting so I suggest you go to the seller's page and decide on what you'd like and let me know - here's the link :

Anybody else wanting to join in, just let me know.

Hey guys, remember you won't pay custom duties on Aquarium Equipment unless it's lighting when your stuff arrives but you will pay vat on this stuff!
    Just some info.
