E.L. Inverts

Hi friends,

I'm currently East London on holiday. I believe there some nice inverts that can be collected, so while I'm here I would like to scout for some. If the locals could advise what's good and a pic just to make sure I get the right thing.

what about the hermits here? there are millions, like ants.

Found snails here, are these "turbo snails"?

and the hermits have black legs with a red strip at the end? they mostly use old snail shells.

I`m from Cape Town but was in East London in December.Go have a look at the Nahoon Reef area.A local guy took me there and it`s a great beach to hang out at even if you don`t find any thing good.

East london itself isnt too great, try going to the small coastal towns a bit north. They alot quieter and have way more fish/inverts etc. Tidal pools are also a great place to find stuff.

thx guys. but are the hermit crabs ok to keep or are they bad news, same Q for the snails?

Hermits should be ok Justin. JUST try and take the absolutely smallest of the hermits... In this way you safe in any case!

I have known a few people who have kept the local hermits in a reef tank. They swear they were fine. The only reason I did not try was because I had a few red and blue legged hermits and I was concerned the locals would take them out.

As for the snails, I have kept a few with no problems.
