Heres a dumb one: will I get more flow through the pipe with more holes at the top?

No. The only effect the holes at the top has is to prevent a siphon. Without the holes you will have a siphon going and the water level will oscillate - so for a short burst of time the water will flow much quicker, but then the siphon is broken and the water rises slowly. On average the total flow rate stays constant.

With no holes there will be no siphon and the water will flow freely as if you had no pipe. The only factor affecting your flow rate (assuming the bulkhead size is big enough to handle the flow) is the size and head height of your pump minus all the plumbing losses.

The little holes are just to keep the standpipe silent.
