    Hi guys,
Some of you know I'm gonna be in Umhlanga Lagoon drive from 26th to 11th.

While I'm still in Jhb, I wanna do a checklist of what I need to take down.
I only have the following for now:
    20L bucket
Empty 22kg Red Sea coral pro bucket
    5L bucket
    Battery airpump
    Airline tube
    AC airpump fir hotel
    Heater just in case

    What else do u need?

    Wishlist:
    Hermits yellow tip
    Snails - cerith, turbos, nassarius
    Urchin - short spine
    Shrimps - if possible?

    Caulerpa or hali

    Fish
    Gem tang

    Convicts
    Cleaner wrasse

Would love juv emperor, but won't work in mixed reef tank

Dynamite makes it a lot easier to catch goldies, unless you lucky and come across the odd one or 2 in a rock pool.

Convicts - 100's of them at treasure beach
Shrimps - should find bandit shrimps at treasure possible blue lobster
Jumping bean - seen a few best bet is deeper reefs maybe blood reef
Cleaner wrasse - depends how lucky you are treasure / vetchies
    Hermits / snails - Treasure

    your refracto and RO water.

Do a 50% water change every day. Measure the sea water and aim to have your bucket at the same temperature. If you use one of those 300L/h little pumps, it would most likely be more than enough to heat up the water. So you will find that your bucket overheats. More water changes would help in that regards.

You want to go down for 2 weeks. Do not collect the first week. OK, couple of snails and hermits yes, but not the fish. Collect them the last day or 2 before leaving.

Oh, the RO, over 2 weeks your salinity will go all out, even with 50% water changes daily. Check it and adjust if needed.

Thanks RiaanP, I'm collecting the day before I leave which means I have time to scout prior.
I'm taking a 350L/h pump as well as my refracto.

You dont need a heater we live on the sunny part of hell, you wil need some nice large cable ties the largest you can get. So you can get fish out of holes without hurting them. Some welding rods. Strong sun tan loation. Oh welding rods are also good for gettibg fish out of holes. A nice deep net home made trust me deep nets works the best. Oh first aid kit

Hey bud ok I take it this is your first time out collecting, try and get a 50L drumb as your water mass for storage is more, air pump for hotel and[IMG] battery while collecting and driving home, pending on the temp you may not need the heater, 2 nets work better than 1, collect as you go fish and what ever just don't transport the hermits or keep them in the same drumb as the fish as they may start eating the fish, O get gloved and wear old takkies, if you can take or buy some thing like Para Guard, stress guard will help but there are a lot of parasites in the ocean, Ive started using it now for the first time and it seems to work as I'll introduce the catches into my system when I get home, O and when you do put them in DRIP almost a hour at a fear pace. and buy or take fish food and frozen food. The only 3 rules I live by is enjoy your self and pl if you not sure what it is just return it as a lot of the creatures get big or they predator's and take what you need.
