    Hi all

Came home on Thursday just to find my DT cracked on side panel!!! Phoned the guy who build my tank and said he will only be back this wednesday and then he'll come round to fix it. The crack is on the side panel, going from the bottom, making a half circle and ending at the bottom again... I've siliconed a piece of glas over it and so far so good.

The problem is this, the DT is 500l, and I haven't got enough bins to put the SW and rocks in to empty the tank so the guy can remove panel to fix it.

Is there anybody in Pretoria area that I can maybe borrow some bins from... Please people, I beg of you.:whistling:

    Thanks in advance

    Theo...

Omg! I'm so sorry! Could you use a large clean trashcan with a powerhead, to put your LR in?

I probably can do that, but its kind of pointless to buy 2 trash cans to use for 24 hours, and then stash it away. If theres no one that can help me I'll probably do that. Even if someone's got two 250l drums, that would also work...

Yip, Riaan's drums are standing here at our shop. This will work perfect for the live rock and water. Unfortunatly we do not have any other extra drums for the live stock as we are using them for maintenance today..

he can use the drums for fish, if really needed. Just make sure the rock stack is stable. But will be a mission to remove afterwards. Will be easier later to first remove the rocks, then the fish if you can still see them. And depends on the time taken, filtration could become a problem.

Anyway, have to add heaters to both drums, even if its just the live rock and water. Need to keep the rock alive.

How many fish and corals do you have Theo?

Thanks alot for the consern guys. Thanks @RiaanP and tiger, I will find out when the guy will come over on wednesday. @Tiger, will it be ok if i pick up the drums on Wednesday morning? I will put the fish in one of my sump(sump with heater and flow, so will be good aerated) and all the rock('bout 60-70kg with some zoas) in one bin also with a power head and heater, fill it up with water and the other bin just water, and just put a pwerhead in it to keep water aerated.... Thank you so much guys...

I've looked at all possible reasons, but really can't find any cause, its 8mm glass.... Maybe Murphy's next door neightbour-Sipho, make a round.....:p(nothing personal)

If I put the Rock and SW as mentioned above, will it be ok like that for about 72 hours, because thats how long I'm going to let the new panels silcone set&dry?????

    Thanks again.

as long as the temperature is stable and its aerated. Then it should be fine.

You sure its 8mm, on a 500L tank?

Is 8mm not to thin for a 500l tank? NOT SAYING IT IS JUST ASKING.

Ok, so got home today and walked into a wet house, wife a tipe of red flush in face(must admit, it's actually a nice colour, type of a chery red colour. And needless to say she didn't appreciate it when I told her that as I walked in) and awkwardly silent and she standing with a mop + 2 buckets in my living room, only to find out that the glass moved approximately 1.5mm and the tank is busy leaking like a mad thing.

Phoned the guy, told him he must replace the panel ASAP. Pumped the water into buckets that was lying in the wendy, cleaned it with normal tap water as I didn't have any other method, Dried it properly with my tank towel. I've put a power head and airpump in al the buckets and a heater in thebin where all the rocks is in. place the fish in the sump. Just hope everything lives to tell the tale.... Time will tell.....
