    Hi all

I bought this tank from a fellow member quite awhile ago and have been busy buying equipment and making a few changes to the setup.

    · Approximately 230 litres
    · Overflow in the back centre of the tank 150mm long x 95mm wide. A 32mm outlet hole and 20mm return hole are drilled in the base of the tank

    Salt
    · I have bought 10kg of Tropic Marin Sea salt
    · Will this be enough to mix 300 litres of water for the tank
    · Contains all 70 trace elements found in natural seawater, even Gold and Platinum

    Thanks @Mc,

Have 26kg of this substrate for the tank, hope it will be enough. If not, I will get some more very fine substrate of another colour to add to this.

Seems as if I don’t really have any problem with the levels of the area where I am putting the tank:
    · Spirit level on the front pane
    [IMG]
    · Spirit level on the side pane

Nice start, good luck with the setup. Substrate should be enough to cover the entire bottom area of the tank, it just wont be very deep. For the salt, check the manufacturers recommendations for mixing but I reckon it will just be enough if I had to guess, I have never used that brand before though.

@Jayceew - Don’t want the substrate to deep, 2cm to 3cm covering the entire base. Just enough depth for the substrate dwelling livestock to be happy.
First time that I will be mixing my own water, so I will have the LFS check the salinity for me. If I have to, I will buy another 2kg or 3kg of salt.

    very neat looking tank :)

For the salinity why not purchase a hydrometer (saves you going to the pet shop all the time to check :) and spend hah), or get a refractometer?

@NickW, I do have a hydrometer, but just don’t trust the accuracy of it. If you want to get the SG of the water salt mix correct, you have to spend loads on a hydrometer or get a refractometer. The lab type hydrometer is used to calibrate the refractometer.

The area cover by egg crate will house the LR; the other areas will just be covered by the substrate, leaving about 190mm on each side and 100mm in the front of the LR as swimming space.

I really like Gobies and Blennies, what would you suggest as some ideal members of these two families that I could add to this tank. Been looking at the Clown Gobies and the Watchman Gobies, any comments on the compatibility of these two? Can Blennies and Gobies live in harmony in this size tank?

@Manic - Hi, been sitting on my hand for a while, but I am really itching to get it wet. Some more pics to follow, hope you will like what I have done.

Thanks @Greg Bridger - really looking forward to getting some water in the tank. The plan is to have a circle of LR sloping from the back to the front.

Sounds like a good plan looking forward to a progress pic or two soon. I've ordered a box of LR for my setup that has been running for a week. I'm still in two minds on how to do my scaping.

@Greg Bridger - where did you order the LR from and what are you paying per kilo. Was it online or from your LFS? LFS around here have some really nice LR, Fiji/Tonga, but at quite a price. Currently have a few nice pieces in my 100 liter tank that will move to this tank once it has some water in it.
