DIY chemicals work fine. Ive seen plenty tanks were guys just use DIY chemicals. Can use commercial products with a name tag but those are generally expensive.

Depends on what you want to accomplish. A few examples:
If you have LPS/SPS/Clams that are eating up the calcium faster than you can topup, then a calcium supplement is the way you want to go.

If you are worried about nutrients and want to dose a liquid to manage the levels then you can go NOPOX.

Corals not showing enough colour? Then maybe the Red Sea Colour program might be the way to go.

If you are looking to feed your NPS corals on a constant basis then you can dose coral food (though not sure if this is feasible as it may clog the pumps and food will rot).

    ;)

a basic all round general few are:

    alk
    mag
    cal
    iodine
5th port as atu with kalk.

    thats what most run.

but as mentioned above your end goal will determine your need.
