    Howsit PPL.

    Stressing a bit here...

My Tang has a few ich spots so I dosed Microbelift herbtana, at the recommended dosage i.e. 5ml per 100l... Now my snails (they are winkles/topshells) are falling off the rocks and glass and retracting into their shells as if the Herbtana is burning them... The other inmates (fish, coral,) seem okay...

I'm Freaking out!!! WHAT DO I DO???

They can be exposed for a short period, Hour most likely. Take them out. Make yourself saltwater, or collect NSW. Hpuse them in there until the Herbtana works out.

    Shot Riaan!
I did a -+ 250L water change (my DT and sump volume is 780l, not taking into account rocks, DSB and sand etc...) with NSW and seems to have made a difference. Corals and all other inverts seem okay but i'm still Sh*ting myself. What if there were other organisms that died off/affected with the snails (it's weird though because only the winkles and not littorina and turban that were effected)?

I hope everything is okay, but not much I can do now, hope the water change and skimmer did the job...

Anything else I can do apart from waiting?

I also took out as many of the effected snails as I could and put them in NSW...

I have never heard of this before. Let me get info from the USA and report back. Herbtana is safe for all inverts, corals etc.... like i said i find this very strange.

Did you calculate the displacement of the rocks, sandbed etc?

Also used it with full reef and no problems with inverts ect ...?//

Did you shake the bottle well first - could there be a separation in the liquid while standing , with different concentrations of "chemicals " that could have been a little strong for snails ?

by now, 13 hours later, things should have settled out. Anything you do now, will be more an over reaction that is too late. Just take a reading on the basic parameters, now and tonight.

If other organisms were affected, on a tank your size there should be enough other organisms to be able to take care of the dead. If there was too many dead organisms, you would have seen the affects by now, fish and corals acting strange.

Sorry for the late reply guys, and thanks for all the concern and help! Everything seems okay now, I lost one snail (that I can see) only... The rest of the tank seems okay though.

    yes i did...

Yes, I know the volume of my DT and sump, and an estimation of my displacement... However, I think I may have added too much too soon. I read on another forum that some have noticed corals, nennies, inverts and even fish affected by Herbtana in rare cases. If the dosage is slowly increased over a day or so it helps to acclimate the inmates....

The only problem now is that i'm to scared to dose any amount now:lol:

Can you dose this perm, much lower dosage per day, like 1 - 3 ml per day? Can see why not as it's herbal

I think Henk will be best to answer you on this one.
I don't think it is a good idea, don't know if white spot could build up a tollerence for the product. Also it is advised that you switch your skimmer off when dosing.
So my opinion would be no, don't. Only use it when you need it!

    Hi guys

Ich will not build a resistance against it. It merely stimulates the immune. For a daily dose it is impractical as The skimmer will overflow if you do.

Magman, Microbe-Lift has excellent products and is top quality.
It is reef save, any product out there that you use incorrectly is going to cause issues.

I'm so convinced with the brand that I will be using the Microbe-Lift range of products exclusively on my new reef!

My problem is the way you jump on the band wagon when somebody has a sick fish and market this as a miracle cure for ick, when it does absolutly nothing to combat ick, and it's cycle.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it. I am not willing to enter into a debate with you.
