    Hi there

I recently bought a regal tang, quite small still. It is acting quite strange. I read somewhere that it likes to 'play dead'? It swims on it side like fish that is hurt. But doing it a bit often. Is there someone who's had similar behavior or should I worry?

Mine did the same, nothing to worry about.

They do like to sleep on their side, but it's not normal for it to swim on it's side a lot, that could be a sign of stress if it is doing frequently, are there any places in your tank for him to hide, in the rockwork? If they can't hide then it sometimes stresses them out and they swim on their sides.

Agree with Viper! They don't swim on their sides.
Have you noticed any sudden color changes in the regal?

Check your water params and ensure that your NO3 and NO2 is not high.

    Good luck!

Agree, when I was dosing my tank last week my Regal was unhappy. It wedged itself between some rocks and chilled there for a day until it was happy to come out.

It hardly ever swims sideways, any signs of distress or infection?
    Any bullying?
    Is it eating?

Hope it comes right, or it might just be your Regals personality.

No infections, no bullying, eating well. Color perfect. Plenty hiding, but doesn't hide. So I don't know! Will keep a close eye. Seems kind of "playful" in a way too. Strange.

Yes it's fine. I noticed it only did it around the dussumieri. Much bigger than the regal. Looked like it was flirting haha. Moved it and now it's fine! Happy little fish. Only about 3cm still. So freakin cute at that size!
