    Hi All

I lost my Moorish Idol last night. Has been eating since I got him 2 weeks ago. Was quite suprised by the sudden death..

    It was an impulse buy...

Please learn from my mistake and dont buy these beautiful fish.... They belong in our oceans....

Thanks Darren. The problem with the moorish idol, is that it is SO PRETTY.... And when people see it in the shops, then they just want to put it in their tanks.

It is VERY unfortunate that these fish are being caught at all, and are being sold at fish stores at all! As I think that they might be doomed to death in ANY case.

Moorish idols NEED to be fed - at least 16 hours of the day. They are CONSTANT grazers and need a CONSTANT supply of food.... NOT like some other fish that can survive quite well on a once daily feed....

Thanks for posting this Darren, it is true Moorish Idols don't fare well in tanks, however well set up, i know a couple of very experienced reefers that hae tried, and like you lost, a Moorish Idol, it's not worth it, they should really be on the "stop" list.

Sad to hear it, but i have to say well said, they can be looked after by very few experienced reefers, the rest of us mugs can't, they need to be listed by our governemnts really
