Domino Damsels spawned today!

MistaOrange, I still do a lot of research every day. I'm not sure that will ever really end. However, it is enjoyable to me.

I also do lots of research every day on the net, but the more research I'm doing the less useful informations I can find.
Funny enough, many times I find something very useful.
The information I find is about the same fact, which I figured out myself about many times of trying. If I would have found this info much earlier, it would have saved me plenty of time. On the other hand, I got proof that this information is correct.

Brenda, if I don't clean the fry tank every fourth day, I will have many losses during the fourth night. Similar to your tail situation.
You should try to clean the fry tank every fourth day and skip all the other sterilzation work.

I don't think anyone can do enough research & this hobby gets more interesting by the day.

I'm afraid I would run into issues doing that. There is a lot of food that goes into the seahorse tanks.

The tanks that had the infections were wiped down daily. I take a sponge or brush with a siphon hose and wipe down the inside walls daily. This part is pretty simple and only takes a few minutes. So I really don't mind.

Waiting for more eggs and I have to get some more equipment for the larvae.
Today I went to seapoint for some plankton. I took a big load of plankton out of the rockpools. Now I have to see, what different sizes I caught.
There are many, many black copepods, and it would be interesting if I can isolate them under the microscope to culture them in a mono culture. I reckon, the naupli is free swimming and the right size I need. There might also plenty other small plankton in there, but I have to check that under the microscope .
Also I need to figure out, if the copepod feeds on algae or bacteria or both.
And if they can adapt the higher temperature on a long term.

Marcel - perhaps it's time to follow BrentV's suggestion? Take a torch and go and visit the rockpools at night-time....see what micro-life you get then? Please let us know if this also works on Cape Town rock-pools.....

Jacques, I read BrentV´s post already. I prefer always the easy way and if that doesn´t work, then I do what others suggest.;)

But thanks for the tip.

Hey Marcel The sea point rock pools is it by the putt putt? I have been thinking of going to either to bigbay or sea point rock pools this evening to see what I can catch for my dsb & will check under microscope to see the different sizes I get If I collect quite a bit I could give some to you if you like?

What happened to your broodstock?

A late answer to your question. My broodstock is happy and spawning on a regular, 8-day basis. For all video junkies, I managed to make a short video of their spawning activity. It is busy uploading to youtube. Will post it as soon as it´s up.

Here it is. Take not of the white ovapositor from the female. The cluster size is similar to a size 8 foot print and contains approximately +20.000 eggs.

Dude, what is it about your house with all the fish spawning? I'm tempted to make rude suggestions about you watching a lot of porn (but I wont').

Oh god, why is it, that everybody thinks Germany is like Bavaria? Bavaria is a freestate within Germany and they got their own sort of culture. The rest of Germany is totally different and this kind of music gets played in Bavaria only.
