Get the smallest fish hook from a fly fishing shop, strip the feathers, attach line and use a pair of pliers to flatten the "week" go to ocean basket and by a row shrimp. I caught 2 wrasses yesterday in five minutes, they all alive. Good luck!

Sorry for chipping in on this thread. We have tried the hook numerous times. Caught one false eye damsel and sumped him. But the other one is now to clever... when he sees the hook with lekker food he just gets out of the way. Think he associates it with something bad now :)
How does the 2l coke bottle work?

cut the neck off the bottle and invert it around, so it makes like a funnel into the bottle, place food inside the bottle and wait......

Big, it's 500 liters. 1600mmX450mmX700mm. With lots of LR. going to be difficult

If it was smaller you could have just drained it quickly with a pump, catch the fish and put water back.

Ok so the 2l bottle works for most of them. Managed to trap the following:
    1x cleaner shrimp
    1x hermit crab
    1x clown fish
    1x copperband
    1x yellow tang

0x false eye damsel, how are we going to catch this bugger

yes, that is exactly what we did with the 2l bottle. It works like a dream with the other fish. we put calamari and mussel in. But the false eye damsel doesn't go near it. Him and the humbugs don't go near the trap. and those are exactly the fish we want to catch..

What some guys do is build a fish trap and then attach a 20mm water pipe to the end. When the trap it put in the tank the top of the pipe is out of the water and then you put food in it and it ends up in the trap. Some real clever guys feed their fish this way so the get used to the trap and then it is not a problem to remove a fish when needed.

I caught a domino with a net in a reef tank. Put food in the net and feed your fish like that 4 2 weeks. When they get used to it catch them. It takes long though and patience

we tried every trick in the book to get the little devil out... it was too clever!! so we resorted to draining 25% of the water, taking out all the LR and coral and cathing the thing with a net!!!
