    Hi all.
Would it not be benificial to have a few Dolomite rocks in an aquarium/sump?
I mean, the Gautrain project has big issues with Dolomite so where they are constructing close to centurion, dolomite should be readily available....

NEILH is the man to talk to he studies rocks for a living. IMO i would say no it is solid so nothing can grow in it. PH levels in aquarium are to high for anything good to leach out of the rock. Thats my 5c

Yes, it would. Much like calcium carbonate the pH needs to be acidic in order for Mg Carbonate to dissolve. The problem is other contaminants which may be present in the rock, rather stick to a know grade where the levels of contaminants are known.
Agreed though it would be interesting to hear Neils perspective.
