Be honest now ;), please vote on the poll above, do you monitor or test the pH in your tank?

Yes, with a digital meter, its the most dangerous param when acclimating new fish. Should always float fish so that temp equals and allows less of ph shock.

Absolutely. With a good quality pH pen. Test weekly, but during first few monts twice daily, i.e. high just before lights off and low just before lights on.

Religiously. I may have lost my coral banded shrimp due to pH shock.

But other than that, I am keeping a log book to see trends. And I enjoy doing the tests. Nostalgia...

Good idea on the day/night shift test.

It might also cure me of my test tube fetish.

Yes, minimum of twice a week with ph pen.
Only been doing it for about 8months & it has definitely made an indirect impact on keeping my corals healthier!
It allows me to mix my sodium carbonate & bicarbonate to the correct ratio when mixing my dosing additives for alk & helps me minimize my nightly ph swing by dosing more at night...

This is the freeken worst parameter in the whole world. N03, P04 is easy easy easy right now I am battling PH with my life.

    1. I just can't get it above 7.8, Skimmer inlet is outside (to combat C02).
    2. Kalk stirrer in
    3. CARX off
    4. Recalibrated Probes

    I just HATE this parameter

    Ok RANT OFF :)

its the air in your house, not the skimmer, open a window near the tank, this is the largest surface area so the effect will be the greatest.

i used to battle as well 7.9-8.1 now that i have a window near i am at 8.4 constantly

I need to find a more sustainable answer - (weather etc) you can't always have an open window.

I am doing a test, tank water in a 2l container with a air stone. When I get home tonight I will use my probe to see what the difference is.

I know PH isn't influenced by temp so that should work.

Connected to profilux, runs all the time.
Agree with this @dallasg, @mytank, keep your sliding door open, it's right next to your tank. Hey how are you doing, you've been very quite lately, we haven't even chatted on whatsup?

well the only sustainable answer is dont respirate in your house :)
but realistically its the trapped CO2 in the house that needs to be eliminated, other than open windows not sure what else can be done, and i am not an advocate of using chemicals
