Hi everyone i have started my build on a 5ft marine now comes the lighting options.
I could by the ready made units or i could buy dual ballests for 54w and just mount the globes with end caps.. Question is there wont be a reflector does this really matter? I could coat the hood with tinfoil?

Thats a great idea, i have researched it and found out that guys place aluminum tape lining to better reflect?
On a 5ft i know it would be better to run 80w T5s but ballests for them are more pricey and its not dual.
So wondering if i could position 54w at different positions.

Sure can stack them left to right but it screws you for later upgrades like bucherman. You won't need that much light in the beginning. Maybe start with a few 80w and then later add the rest you need. If possible. What are you planning to keep? Fish only: light for aesthetics only and not growth, you can almost use T8's. softies up to sps require more and more light (and experience and filtration and cash etc.) so if you know what you want and can afford to keep it's easier to decide on what lights you need.
