No need for you to dose anything at the moment. If you have lots if corals then they use up some trace elements(calcium, alkalinity, magnesium etc.). You would then need to dose to get these parameters up again. People with a softy mainly tank don't even have to dose anything generally. The trace elements that softies use are so minimal that it can be replenished by doing a water change.

There are two reasons for doing a water change.
    1. If you have high nutrients and want to bring them down.
    2. To replenish trace elements.

Bicarbonate of soda for kh. Calcium chloride flakes for Calcium. Magnesium chloride and epsoms salt for mg.

Take a researched guess as to what your weekly consumption of these elements are (As in record your test results). Take X amount of calcium flakes and add hot water, pour into bottle and give it a shake. Same with magnesium, X amount and add water, then bottle it.

I make 14 day diy mg mixture so therefore I add X amount of mg/epsoms salts and around 200ml of water. That way I dose 15mls each day. My calcium is 60mls in 400mls hot water, 28 day mixture. Dose 15mls a day.

Bicarb, I use a tiny 1ml spoon and add 3.5mls worth of bicarb daily into a small jar with some tank water, give it a swirl and toss it in.

Then comes 4 drops of Iodine.

Dosing depends on whats in your tank. Before even thinking about dosing anything you need to determine if and how much you need. Even on a softy tank elements get used up and need replacing.

    Sorry for high jacking again....
BUT I'm still looking for someone that's willing to buy bulk chemicals to make all these supplements etc? :)

I don't want to buy a 25kg bag of each.
So anyone else wanna buy DIY supplements?
