So you finally post pics man!!! it looks pretty good!! is that black thing in the old photo the becket foaming head?

Couple of crits here (sorry). i assume that the smaller pipe is the inlet? You should turn the 45 degree bend the other way so it shoots down, it wouldnt really be a problem if there just hadnt been a 45 or 90 degree bend on there(but i would of suggested you but the 45 in there anyway). Water and air is gonna push out that 45 and hit the other wall, and run up. which is kind of bad for contact.

Can you post some pics of it in action cause i'm interested to see how it actually works despite my theoretical assesment! You say you cant see through the chamber though? Must be awesome bud, when i shouted its alive! for the old DIY it was pretty awesome, had that great sense of accomplishment.. Did you buy the tubes or did you bend the acrylic?

Thanks for all the compliments guys,
This build has taken a long time and a lot of patience.T o answer a few questions:
The perspex tubing I managed to get from work, a lot of wheeling and dealing.
Yes to Scuba, in the first picture that black thing in the clear housing is a Becketts foaming head (on the net it is available as a beckett 1408 foaming head).
I have test run this skimmer and that 45 degree bend does not seem to pose a problem, I was concerned that if the 45 degree points down then it would fill up the outlet pipe and I would not be able to control level. Speaking of level control, on speaking to Scuba about his DIY skimmer he mentioned that the ball valve used to control level was a bit tricky to operate and level control was difficult to fine tune.I admit I was sceptical but I saw just what he meant on the test run.
I will post more pics of the skimmer running and the modded pump I am using.
    Cheers

    Never to late scuba,
I will hopefully be connecting this skimmer up on the weekend,so i will take pics of the skimmer in action. This is an in sump skimmer and I have modded an old Hydor pump ( 2850 l/hour). I used that bio ball mod that was posted on the forum  to convert this pump to pin wheel.

This is a huge skimmer when compared to my aqua medic turboflotor 1000.
I just hope the performance of this new skimmer is just as huge.
    cheers
